Personal and Confidential – Poetry for Anyone

Poisoning the Enemy

Sneaky aren’t you

creeping up on me stealth-like

You’ve lost the shadow I tracked you by

Its doubled up into you

darkness turned in upon itself.

I rarely see you coming

I only hear that faint sucking sound

seconds before you attach yourself

to my juicy energy.

I can tell you’re angry

I’ve starved you and

hunger makes you mean & edgy.

You want my easy surrender –

acquiescence to your leech like grasp

on the essence of my sacred power

But you are slow & stupid

your move no longer swift

in your emaciated state

I chuckle cautiously

at the simplicity of your demise

Humility is in my blood

a stunting poison to you

I drink it in
